we are growing!

This was a year of unprecedented growth and expansion at A House on Beekman. It's an honor for us to report this information to you as we highlight the areas we've seen the most growth - through the new things we were able to expose our kids to, the new program space we acquired, what we can offer through our educational services, and our financial capacity.

And, we're celebrating our five year anniversary

here's to many, many more years of GROWTH!

Exposure to new things

Exposure to new things

"you can't be what you can't see"

- Marian Wright Edelman, Founder of the Children's Defense Fund

We want to give every kid in our programs the chance to see what they want to be! We've been able to offer more "passion class" opportunities this year than ever before - like these pictured below, including ballet, chess, cooking, football, band - and more, like Zumba dance, American Sign Language and Spanish!

We focus our work on a 6 block radius of the South Bronx - Brook Ave. to Jackson Ave. east to west, and 138th to 143rd. north to south.

In the spring 2016, after months of searching, we added a new space for our after school program on the southwest corner of our 6 block radius that will allow our program to nearly DOUBLE the amount of people we serve!

Education

Education

In the fall of 2015, we began our first year operating as a PreK for All classroom, offering free, full day, high quality preschool to our 4 year old neighbors that is fully funded by the New York City Department of Education. This year we also began teaching our certified STEPS parenting courses in our Babies to Three program in English and Spanish and graduated 27 parents through the program.

Financial Capacity

Financial Capacity

This year we did more with less, spending about the same amount of money from last year while growing our programs in the ways highlighted above. At the same time, we had an incredible year of generous giving from our supporters and partners and increased our revenue by 36%! This increase is finally giving our organization a level of financial health and stability we've never had before, allowing us to look toward future growth with confidence and boldness.

Total Invested in the future of the south Bronx this year = $687,079

here's where the money went:

THIS YEAR WE GREW IN ALMOST EVERY DONOR CATEGORY!

and, our total revenue each year is growing!

BECAUSE of these generous provisions, we were able to serve 201 people this fiscal year.

NOW, LET'S CELEBRATE!!!

NOW, LET'S CELEBRATE!!!

5 years down... GENERATIONS to go!

This September, we're celebrating our 5 year anniversary from when we started our first program. We marked the occasion the best way we knew how - by graduating the first very first group of babies to participate in our Babies to Three program into their next adventure...Kindergarten!

We started AHOB with four pregnant moms and pictured below are three of our "original babies" who are growing up to be quite the little ladies!

One more thing!

One more thing!

We can't leave without saying thank you!

Thank you to our amazing families, neighbors, donors, board members and staff for supporting us. We are privileged to do this with you. And, we couldn't do it without you!
